Senior Sales Specialist

A third of the world's crop production depends on honeybee pollination, yet beekeepers lose 40% of their hives each year. To be part of the solution, our team's mission is to provide beekeepers and growers with the data-driven tools needed to raise thriving honeybee colonies. We believe that the technology being built by our team - including AI models - will lead to a future where pollinators are considered an essential factor in feeding our planet. With our digital hive management system BeeTrack, Nectar’s goal is to equip commercial migratory beekeepers with technologies that enable them to make data-driven decisions to raise healthier bees to secure our food supply.

About the position

As a Senior Sales Specialist at Nectar, you'll play a crucial role in driving revenue growth and expanding our impact in the commercial beekeeping industry. Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), you'll be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies to drive meaningful growth within the next 12 months. We're seeking a candidate with exceptional sales skills and a proven track record of meeting aggressive targets. While domain knowledge in agriculture or beekeeping is advantageous, we prioritize candidates who demonstrate a keen interest and ability to quickly learn about the industry.

What you will do

  • Execute sales strategies to achieve the goal of increasing recurring revenue, utilizing techniques such as cold calls, remote product demonstrations, in-person visits, and conference attendance.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive sales playbook tailored to specific customer segments within the commercial beekeeping industry.
  • Maintain and update the sales pipeline, providing accurate reporting on key sales metrics to the COO.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions and close deals.
  • Conduct field visits to sell Nectar's product. Customers are commercial beekeepers in the United States (e.g., California, the Dakotas, Montana, and Idaho) and Canada. Field visits include, but are not limited to beekeeping operation main offices (“the shop”) and beekeeping yards.
  • Create and develop sales materials to support lead generation and conversion efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with the customer success team to ensure seamless client onboarding and satisfaction.
  • Report directly to the COO, providing regular updates on sales performance and initiatives.‍

About you

  • 5+ years of previous sales experience, preferably in the agriculture industry. Experience selling enterprise software is a nice to have, but not a must.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong skills in pipeline management and reporting, with a metrics-driven approach to sales.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a collaborative and positive attitude.
  • Keen interest and ability to quickly learn about the commercial beekeeping industry.
  • Committed to Nectar's core values of positivity, constructiveness, care, curiosity, and ambition.
  • Willingness to travel frequently (sometimes as often as once or twice a month).
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced, startup environment.‍

Great to have but not a must

  • Fluency in Spanish and/or French.
  • Experience in the agriculture or beekeeping industry is advantageous but not mandatory.

Benefits & Conditions

  • Permanent and full-time role with flexible work hours;
  • To be performed in Canada or US: from home and/or from Nectar's office in Montreal;
  • Remuneration according to experience;
  • A minimum of 3 weeks of vacation;
  • Group insurance plan & RRSP (for residents of Canada);
  • Annual well-being budget of $500.
